루닛 서울 오피스에는 Europe, Asia, America등 다양한 글로벌 멤버들이 근무하고 있어요. 원활한 회사 생활을 위한 다양한 가이드들이 번역되어 Slack, 이메일 등 다양한 커뮤니케이션 툴을 통해 안내되었어요. 하지만 매번 흩어진 자료들을 검색하여 찾아야 하는 불편함이 있었죠.
특히, Lunit Employee Guidebook 국문 버전은 Notion에 게시되어 있지만, 국문이라 구글 번역기로 번역하여 정보를 찾아 정확한 정보 전달이 어려웠어요. 정보의 접근성, 정확성 과 투명성을 높이고, 모든 자료 들을 한곳에서 볼 수 있도록 Lunit Employee Guidebook 영문 버전을 Notion에 발간했어요. 이번 글에서는 Employee Guidebook이 생겨난 목적과 어떻게 글로벌 멤버들의 생활에 도움이 되는지 후기도 들려 드릴게요.
많은 회사는 공리주의 영향으로 다수의 효용성 때문에 소수의 불편함이 당연하다고 여기곤 해요. 루닛은 이타심을 늘 강조하고 서로의 벽을 허물고 서로 이해하며 이끌어 주는 곳이에요. 더 나아가, 루닛의 가장 중요한 자산은 한명 한명의 루닛 멤버들이죠. 다수인지 소수인지에 따라 다르게 정보가 제공되어선 안 된다고 생각해요. 작년 2020년 12월, 한 달의 시간을 거쳐, 미처 영문화가 되지 않았던 자료들과 부족한 정보 등 보강하여 담게 되었어요.
가이드북 맛보기
영문 버전은 국문 버전과 같이 3가지 영역으로 나누어져 있어요.
“General”은 루닛의 비전, 미션, 코어 밸류 등 전반적인 루닛에 관한 정보들을 담고 있어요.
“Guide” 에는 가장 많은 정보를 담은 part에요. 인사제도, 복리 후생, 업무 공간, 협업 툴 등 루닛 생활에 대한 종합 가이드이죠.
마지막으로, 업무와 회사 생활에 있어 다른 부서에 요청해야 하는 일이 종종 생기죠? 어떤 부서에 또 누구에게 요청해야 하는지 모르는 경우가 생길 때마다 난감해요. “Service Desk”에서 해당 부서와 효과적인 요청 방법을 안내하고 있어요.
글로벌 멤버들의 후기
영문 Guidebook은 실제로 어떻게 도움을 주고 있을까요? 글로벌 멤버 중 Kelly 님, Serigio 님 그리고 Thijs 님께서 경험과 생각을 공유해 주셨어요.
Kelly: Bilingual work materials are very important to me as a foreign employee because it shows that the company values every employee. Moving from being a contractor to working as a full time employee at Lunit was difficult because I wasn’t sure to expect. The time right after I joined wasn’t much different from before but after the employee guide was released I could learn more about how Lunit employees work together in the office. As a result I could interact better with other employees and I felt much more comfortable going for meals together or making requests. I also could independently solve problems without relying on colleagues who could speak Korean which made a great difference for me.
Sergio: Before the English guidebook, it was hard for me to know the full extent and details of our benefits and work guides, and I always needed to ask for help from someone else. So, as a foreigner, I was happy when the English version was announced, and I really appreciated the effort. I can now find the information I need, and the detail level is good. For instance, recently I needed to find information about the support for Korean classes and I could do it independently, which felt good! What makes it great is that the information is centralized and generally easy to find. The best parts, though, are the benefits that show how Lunit cares about us and finding pictures that are real gems of the early days of the company.
Thijs: Lunit has many great benefits such as health checkups, support for health care, support for lunch and dinner, Korean language lessons support and employee stock options programs. It can be hard to navigate and make full use of them as a foreigner. The English Guidebook provides a clear overview and explains the important topics.
In the beginning it was difficult for me to know how to file expense reports and sign up for benefits, but after reading the guides I can make full use of everything. For me the most useful guide was how to file a report on Bizplay. The app is partly in Korean with some buttons that can not easily be copied into Papago. It can be difficult to know as a foreigner how to use it. The guide provides step-by step instructions with pictures.
Most content regarding the company is there. For foreign employees it could help to have some settle-in guides to Seoul (how to sign up for housing, finding phone, opening a bank account, how insurance works, taxes work, etc) or perhaps some links to external guides.
